Behind the Scenes: Grail
Above and below are a few behind the scenes shots from our second Grail production run. Each pot is hand thrown and stamped on Bainbridge Island by the very talented Terry Siebert.
Recipe: Vegan Sausage Cassoulet
One of our favorite ways to use our Grail cassoulet is for this slow cooked white bean recipe. It is an easy version of a classic french cassoulet. We kind of made it up and make it a little differently each time, but below is a basic recipe to get you started.
Made with Love
Grain partners, Chelsea and James Minola, often get asked what it is like to run a business as a couple. In honor of the month of love, Vanessa interviews Chelsea on just that subject.
Island Life
Occupational hazard of Northwest island life: Fog horn wake up calls. Above and below are a few shots from this past weekend when the ferry forced us to start our day a little earlier than planned.
I Think I Love You
Above and below are a few ideas for how to use your Utility Cards this coming Valentine's Day. Suggestions include: "You are my Valentine," " I think I love you," "I love you so much," "I think I love you," "Smitten in love," and "Hello Valentine. I love you."
Standard Socket
Our friends at Standard Socket just announced that they will be back at WantedDesign in New York this spring. Be ready to see new variations of our Strung lighting series (sconce pictured above) and much more from this Seattle-based manufacture.
Totem Candles
Launched a few weeks ago, our Totem Candles were our best selling gift this past holiday. We have one part play and one part Instagram to thank.
Shop Small Pop-Up
If you can't make it to Seattle this weekend, above and below are a few pics from our Shop Small Pop-Up at 55 University Street and Western Avenue.
Pass The Cassoulet…
In case you missed it, our cassoulet made it's debut in The New York Times last week! Huge thanks to Tim McKeough for the thoughtful write-up.
Our Holiday Wish Lists
In case you didn't know what to get us, we've put together our very own holiday wish list. Above are Ryland's wishes. Below are compilations by James, Chelsea and Vanessa. Fingers crossed!
Welcome Vanessa and Ryland!
We are a few weeks late on the announcement, but excited nonetheless to introduce our two newest staff members: Ryland Quillen and Vanessa Lang.
Sneak Peak: Destination Pop-Up
For all of you who can't make it out to Bainbridge Island this November, above and below is a little sneak peak of Destination Pop-Up. We've been having a lot of fun in the space and are enjoying the chance to introduce our work to our neighbors.
New West Coast Design
If you are in San Francisco between now and January 5, 2014, don't miss New West Coast Design 2 at The Museum of Craft and Design.
Artisanas Guatemaltecas
A few pics above and below from our most recent trip to Guatemala to work on the spring textile collection. This time we stayed mostly in Antigua and got to know more about weaving and natural dye through a few local studios that we are excited to begin working with.
Making it Official!
On a personal note: We are excited to announce that partners, Chelsea Green and James Minola, were married this summer making Grain an official family business! Chelsea will be taking James' name but all her contact info will otherwise be the same.
1% For The Planet
As part of our annual commitment, we made our 1% For The Planet donation this week. This year we decided to support the National Parks Foundation and Save Bristol Bay. We have supported the National Parks before, but thought it was especially important this year as they are facing national budget cuts that will severely affect their 397 parks.
L.O.V.E. Potions
It has been a month since design week, and we are still catching up, but we wanted to take a quick moment to share some more images of our collaboration with Emilie Baltz for Reclaim x2.
New For Spring!
We're launching a whole new collection next week at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. Above and below is a preview. Everything should be up in the shop shortly.
