Definitions

Grain Design LLC (“us”, “we”, “our”, or “grain”) operates the http://graindesign.com website (herein “site”, “website”). This page informs you of our policies, and the terms by which you may use this website.

Accessibility

While Grain is not a business with a physical location that is open to the public, accessibility for all users is still important to us. If you would like assistance using or purchasing our products please reach out to our dedicated team or make an appointment with one of our showroom partners. The new Grain site was designed with accessibility in mind, and includes many related design and backend features. Grain has conducted multiple accessibility reviews, however we know accessibility is personal, so if you notice an opportunity for improvement, or a specific issue with our site (or other offerings) please reach out in whatever way is best for your needs: accessibility@graindesign.com , via the contact page, or by phone at 206.855.7811.

We use a commercial backend for this website which means we don’t have direct control over every aspect of the user interface, but where we do have control we’ve made some important improvements. Though this site is still under construction, many new accessibility features are already available. This site uses larger fonts with scalability and higher contrasts. Automatic animations and videos have been reduced sitewide. Users may also bring up a “skip to content” button using the tab key and should be able to use the tab and other keys to navigate the site with the keyboard. Payment

For retail orders, Grain accepts all standard credit cards allowed by our payment processor. We only accept personal checks or cash from Bainbridge Island residents with a valid ID, who order over the phone or via email and plan to pick up their purchase from Grain directly.

If you prefer not to enter your credit card information online, please call us at 206.855.7811 and we can take your information over the phone.

For wholesale or trade orders, Grain accepts ACH bank transfers via Quickbooks or checks made out to Grain mailed to our studio address. Credit card payments for wholesale and trade orders can be accepted with a 3% service fee. All payments must be made by persons over the age of 18.

Tax

Sales tax will be applied as required by law in the state of Washington. For orders shipped outside the State of Washington, generally tax collection is still required, but tax may vary by your local laws and tax status. Appropriate domestic sales tax is calculated by a 3rd party automatic back-end system. Orders shipped outside the US may not always be subject to US sales tax, however, they may be subject to other taxes and import tariffs which vary by country and location. Payment of any and all appropriate taxes and import tariffs are the responsibility of the purchaser.

Privacy & Security

Grain processes transactions utilizing the latest SSL certificate encryption technologies and meets all credit card association standards.

Any personal information collected on our site, or provided over the phone is kept strictly confidential. We will not sell or share customer information with anyone. If you would like to be removed from our mailing list please click the “unsubscribe” link on our newsletters, or contact us for assistance.

This site may contain links to other sites that are not opeated by us. We assume no responsibility for the content, policies, security, or privacy practices of third party sites or services.

This is a commercial service based website meaning the servers used are offsite and not under our direct control. We feel this is an improvement over the security we could offer our customers directly, however this does mean third party service providers may have some access to your data when they perform tasks on our behalf (including but not limited to credit card processing).

Special Orders

Custom sizes, materials and finishes are possible for many Grain products. Please contact us at shop@graindesign.com to place a custom order, or for further information on custom options.

Lead Times

Though we do keep some limited stock, most of our products are made to order and require 2 - 16+ weeks lead time depending on the product and date of order. Orders placed during the summer and over US holidays may take a little longer. If orders placed online are back-ordered or expected to take longer than 2 weeks to ship, we will contact you via email with an estimated ship date. Please contact us for more specific information, or if you need to receive a shipment by a certain date.

Gift Wrap

We are happy to gift wrap any small items purchased through our online shop. There is no additional charge for this service. Gift wrapping is done using brown kraft paper with a hemp twine tie. A card with a personal note can also be included. Please let us know if you would like an item to be gift wrapped at the time of purchase via the special instructions section or by contacting us. Large items such as furniture cannot be gift wrapped.

Gift Certificates

We can easily provide a gift certificate in a denomination of your choosing. Please contact us to order a gift certificate.

Shipping & Damaged Shipments

We are able to ship our products almost anywhere in the world. Our standard methods of shipment are USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground depending on the product.

A phone number is required for delivery to a P.O. Box and generally voids the shipper’s service guarantee. The shipping company may also apply extra charges to P.O. Box shipments. We ship LTL freight for larger items and can provide white glove delivery quotes on request. 

Please inspect all shipments for damage on receipt. Contact us within three business days to report any damage. Retain the Grain item and all of the original packing and shipping materials for possible inspection as part of our carrier's claim process. Grain may not be able to file a claim and/or repair or replace damaged items if these instructions are not followed.

In an effort to make our shipping process as sustainable as possible, Grain purchases carbon offsets for all of our shipments via Climate Neutral. Please see our about section for more information.

Quality Guarantee

We stand behind the products we make and strive to ensure all items meet our quality standards. We are happy to repair or replace any item that is found to be defective in its material or workmanship. This does not include regular wear-and-tear. The choice of repairing or replacing an item is at Grain’s discretion. Please contact us with any issues and we will work with you to resolve them as soon as possible.

Exchanges & Returns

Because our work is made-to-order, all sales are final.

Wholesale & Trade

We partner with select showrooms and retailers. We also offer a trade discount to professional architects and interior designers. Please see our trade page for more information and a trade application.

Licensing

We are open to discussing licensing partnerships for our existing designs and/or for new design development. Please contact us to discuss your project.

Use of Site

Use of the www.graindesign.com website (herein Site) constitutes your agreement to follow these rules and to be bound by them, in accordance with and governed by the laws of the State of Washington. If you do not agree with any of these terms and conditions or are under the age of 18, please do not use our Site.

Changes

Grain reserves the right to update or modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Your use of the Site following any such change constitutes your agreement to follow and be bound by the terms and conditions as changed.

Disclaimer

This Site and all Content of this Site are provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including without limitation warranties of title or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. You acknowledge, by your use of this Site, that your use of this Site is at your sole risk, that you assume full responsibility for all costs associated with all necessary servicing or repairs of any equipment you use in connection with your use of our Site, and that Grain shall not be liable for any damages of any kind related to your use of this Site.

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold Grain harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs and expenses, including attorneys' fees, arising from or related to your use of the Site.

All of the Material and Content on this Site (herein Material) including but not limited to: images, illustrations, graphics, audio clips, video clips, and text, are subject to trademark, service mark, trade dress, patent, copyright and/or other intellectual property rights or licenses owned by Grain. The entire Content of this Site is intended solely for personal, noncommercial use. Grain reserves complete title and full intellectual property rights in any content you download from this Site. You may not copy, download, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, transmit, transfer or create derivative works from the Content without first obtaining written permission from Grain.
