Grain at NYCxDESIGN
The month of May is always an exciting time for American design. This year is turning out to be no exception. Here is where to find Grain next week as part of NYCxDESIGN:
Colony, 196 West Broadway, New York, NY
Monday - Friday, 12:00 - 6:00 pm, Saturday 11:00 - 3:00 pm
Our New York showroom, Colony, has a new home. In celebration of the new location, we are proud to exhibit our latest piece: the Off-Grid Cabinet. Our wall-mounted cabinet is an example of how our Off-Grid collection can be realized in many different configurations. Also on display will be new work from designers Meg Callahan, Bec Brittan, Hiroko Takeda, and BZIPPY.
In addition, Colony founder, Jean Lin, is celebrating her beautiful new book What We Keep which officially launched this week and features work and words from Grain founders Chelsea and James Minola.
The Crossroads
ICFF and WantedDesign, 429 11th Avenue, New York, NY
May 19 - 21, 10:00 - 6:00 pm
Co-curated by David Rockwell and Pei-Ru Keh, The Crossroads offers a snapshot of American design in its many shapes and forms. This year’s exhibition will spotlight the way designers seek to preserve long-honored craft traditions, together with how they push the boundaries of circularity to consciously re-think the legitimacy of material use. Grain is part of a selection of works presented by Colony in conversation with pieces from Daniel Michalik, Like Minded Objects, Office of Tangible Space, Alexis & Ginger and more.
Better with Butter, A Digital Exhibition
Opens May 16, areaware.com
To mark the release of new work by Pat Kim and Sophie Lou Jacobsen, Areaware invited a community of artists, creatives, and friends to sculpt their favorite everyday objects out of butter. Participating artists include Object and Totem, Chen Chen & Kai Williams, Chiaozza, and Selena Liu.
In other studio news, we continue to build out our selection of in stock work. We now have a section of our shop dedicated to quick-ship furniture, rugs, lighting, and objects to support fast-moving projects. Local designers are always invited to reach out to visit our Bainbridge Island, WA studio to see any of these pieces in person.
Wishing you all the best design week!
